Teaching Tae Kwon Do at a Colombian Orphanage

This morning we did a performance at an orphanage here in Bogota. Last year my brothers and sisters and I taught classes here such as Tae Kwon Do, English and Dance. The kids here change over all the time but the ones that remembered us were very excited to see us again, and wanted to show us what they had been practicing. Some of these kids have seen their parents killed and some have been given away and have to deal with the fact their own parents don't want them.  When the child turns eighteen, they have to leave because society says they are adults now, but they are really just scarred children inside with no clue who they are.
We all spent a lot of time throwing kids into the air and spinning them around as they ran up to us begging, "Teacher, teacher, one more time please". We did a show in their theater of dance and magic, hopefully sowing seeds into their hearts that no matter what, they have a Father who wants them. I was so happy to see that even the older kids, who were concerned about acting cool, were riveted on our words. They all paid attention to the theatrical dance we do of a caterpillar coming out of a cocoon; one animal, can become a completely different animal. There is hope and change can be a beautiful thing.
